About David Wilkinson

David Wilkinson was president and CEO of Strack and Van Til, a Highland, Indiana grocery chain. Strack and Van Til is a subsidiary of Central Grocers Cooperative, Inc., and operates twenty stores, along with sixteen Ultra Food and two Town & Country Market locations in Indiana and Illinois. Wilkinson was named president and CEO in 1998, and the company saw consistent growth under his leadership. When he stepped into that leadership role, the chain had ten stores producing sales of about $350 million annually, and had about 1,500 employees. Considered the "driving force" behind the growth and success of the company, when Wilkinson announced his retirement in 2014, the company had 38 stores, was a $1.1 billion-dollar chain, and had around 6,000 employees as one of the region's largest employers.

Wilkinson has served on Indiana University Northwest's Board of Advisors since 2014. In 2019, Wilkinson received the Indiana University's Bicentennial Medal in recognition of his distinguished contributions and service.
