About Ernest O'Boyle

Ernest O’Boyle earned his B.S. in psychology and his Ph.D. in management from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2004 and 2010, respectively. He joined the Indiana University (IU) Kelley School of Business faculty in 2017 as an associate professor in the Department of Management. In 2019, he was awarded the additional, honorary title of Dale M. Coleman Chair of Management.

Prior to joining the IU faculty, O’Boyle served on the faculty at the College of Business and Economics at Longwood University and at the Henry B. Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa. His areas of expertise include individual differences, the Dark Triad of personality, counterproductive work behavior, research methods, and ethics. He has authored an array of articles related to these topics and more that have been published in notable research and academic publications, including the Journal of Management Studies, Organization Research Methods, the Journal of Business Venturing Inquiry, and more.

Throughout his robust career, O’Boyle has been recognized as an outstanding educator and researcher with several honors and awards. He received the Collegiate Teaching Award from the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa in 2016, the Academy of Management Human Resources Division Early Career Achievement Award in 2016, the Sage Publications Academy of Management Research Methods Division Early Career Award in 2015, and many others.
