Vijay Kathri earned his B.E. in electronics from Malaviya Regional Engineering College in 1992 and his M.B.A. in management studies from the University of Bombay in 1994. Upon completion, he continued his education at the University of Arizona where he earned his Ph.D. in 2002. Since joining the Indiana University (IU) Kelley School of Business faculty as an assistant professor of accounting and information systems in 2002, Khatri has held numerous appointments and titles at IU, including Executive Associate Dean for Strategy, Innovation, and Technology and Professor of Operations and Decision Technologies. In 2019, Khatri was named the Judith Norman Davis and Kim G. Davis Professor of Business Analytics.
Khatri’s areas of expertise include data lifecycle management, data visualization, predictive analytics, semiotics and database design, cognitive aspects of data management, and data governance. He has authored several articles and papers related to these topics and more that have been published in premier business journals, including Information & Management, MIS Quarterly, and IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering.
Throughout his successful career, Khatri has been recognized with a variety of honors and awards. He earned the MBA Teaching Excellence Award from the Kelley School of Businesses in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2018. To recognize his outstanding teaching efforts, he was awarded a Trustees’ Teaching Award in 2006, 2010, 2012, and 2014. These are merely a few of the many honors awarded to Khatri throughout his years spent teaching.
