About Gayle Gordillo

Gayle Gordillo earned her B.A. from Stanford University in 1984 and her M.D. from The Ohio State University in 1990. She completed a general surgery residency and a plastic surgery residency at The Ohio State University in 1994 and 1999, respectively. She completed a transplant immunology fellowship at The Ohio State University and an executive leadership in academic medicine fellowship at Drexel University in 1997 and 2011, respectively. Gordillo currently serves as the Dr. Sanford & Thelma Glanz Professor and Chief, Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery at Indiana University. She is also Medical Director of Wound Services for IU Health and Medical Director of the Wound Care Center at IU Health Methodist Hospital.

Her clinical focus in wound healing specializes in reconstructive surgery for complex burn and wound defects. Gordillo served on the Executive Committee for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons for 5 years culminating in her role as President of the Plastic Surgery Foundation from 2020-2021. She previously served on the Board of Directors for the Wound Healing Society and on the Plastic Surgery Advisory Council for the American College of Surgeons. She is currently a senior examiner and member of the Advisory Council for the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Gordillo is a member of several prestigious professional organizations, including the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, the American Burn Association, the American College of Surgeons, and more.
