Established in 1990 to give students a voice in university matters and to maintain an open and active dialogue with IUPUI administrators, the Graduate and Professional Student Government at IUPUI (GPSG) GPSG is dedicated to enhancing the engagement and involvement of the graduate and professional student population on campus. With representation from each of IUPUI's schools, GPSG fosters strong partnerships and collaborations across all departments to champion programs and places that meet that goal.
The results of those efforts are evident throughout campus. GPSG has advocated for the creation of new campus spaces, such as the IUPUI Campus Center, the fitness center, and water refill stations. With student success always at the forefront, GPSG also helped establish the Multimedia Production Center, assisted in creating the guidelines of the new Graduate Mentoring Center, and established the Elite 50 program.
Most recently, GPSG has worked with Institutional Research and Division Support, Counseling and Psychological Services, and the Graduate Office to develop several initiatives surrounding mental health awareness and wellness.
GPSG was presented with an IUPUI 50th Anniversary Chancellor's Medallion by Chancellor Nasser H. Paydar at the Elite 50 dinner on April 10, 2019, in recognition of their contributions to the living and learning environments on campus, strengthening the education and retention of students, as well as creating a strong sense of community where Jaguars excel and thrive. It is the first organization to ever receive a Chancellor's Medallion.
