As a representative organization, the Undergraduate Student Government at IUPUI (USG) encourages democratic thought and action through self-governance and helps facilitate a collaborative environment that positively impacts their peers, the campus community, and the city of Indianapolis. USG leaders give voice to IUPUI undergraduate student concerns and represent those students at venues including the IU Board of Trustees meetings. In addition, USG leaders play a role in selecting the student trustee representative.
USG is a voice of solidarity for all students, passing resolutions focused on supporting undocumented students and the LGBTQ+ community among many others. Most recently, they passed a bill that supports a pilot program that would make feminine hygiene products available on campus free of charge.
USG has also played an important role in creating a prayer space in the Campus Center, establishing a meditation and reflection space on campus, and advocating for all-gender restrooms. They have helped fund campus-wide events like the IUPUI Regatta, Jagathon: IUPUI's Dance Marathon, and the African Student Association annual African Night. USG has been a vital and active participant in the 50th Anniversary celebration at IUPUI.
In recognition of their contributions to the living and learning environments on campus, as well as their work to create a strong sense of community where Jaguars excel and thrive, the Undergraduate Student Government at IUPUI (USG) was presented with an IUPUI 50th Anniversary Chancellor's Medallion by Chancellor Nasser H. Paydar on April 12, 2019.
