About Christine Fitzpatrick

Chancellor Paydar named Christine Fitzpatrick his chief of staff in 2012. In that role, Fitzpatrick has served on the Chancellor's Cabinet and the IUPUI Dean's Council. She draws on her extensive knowledge of the campus and broader community to coordinate and facilitate a wide variety of strategic projects and planning initiatives. As director of the 50th Anniversary celebration, Fitzpatrick was instrumental in the planning and execution of the Fall Kickoff Celebration and the Birthday Bash, administering the 50th Anniversary event fund, building awareness around the celebration, and much more. In addition, her tireless work to build and launch the Welcoming Campus initiative promises to transform IUPUI into a more welcoming, inclusive, and inspiring destination for faculty, staff, students, and the community. Designed to be sustainable beyond the life of the initiative, many of the Welcoming Campus projects have been showcased during the 50th Anniversary and will make an impact long into the future.

Fitzpatrick's previous responsibilities and experience include coordinating and supporting IUPUI's comprehensive campus strategic planning process, leading a number of community engagement activities at the Solution Center, working in the IU Office of the Vice President for Information Technology and UITS, and serving as an assistant dean of the School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI. Fitzpatrick has also served as an associate faculty member in the schools of Engineering and Technology, Informatics and Computing, and Education at IUPUI. She has co-chaired the IUPUI United Way campaign, one of the university's signature partnerships with the community.

Fitzpatrick received her bachelor of science and master of arts degrees in English from Ball State University and her doctoral degree in instructional systems technology from Indiana University Bloomington.

Paydar during the Welcoming Campus Conference on April 16, 2019. Fitzpatrick was honored for her exemplary service to the IUPUI campus as a member of the faculty, for her visionary leadership as director of the 50th Anniversary celebration, and for her collaborative spirit that builds partnerships that tie people together across disciplines, schools, and units to achieve the most positive of outcomes.
