Brian P. Miller earned his B.A. in accounting and finance from Cedarville University in 1994 and his M.B.A. in finance and international business from the University of Cincinnati in 1998. Upon graduation, he continued his education at The Pennsylvania State University where he earned his Ph.D. in accounting in 2008. He joined the Indiana University (IU) Kelley School of Business faculty in 2008 as an assistant professor. He was promoted to associate professor in 2015 and full professor in 2020. In 2020, Miller earned the additional, honorary title of Sam Frumer Professor.
Prior to joining the IU faculty, Miller worked with BKD LLP, The Procter and Gamble Co., and served as an assisting lecturer at The Master's College and Cedarville University. His primary areas of interest include capital markets, financial disclosure, managerial reputation, and corporate governance.
Throughout his professional and teaching career, Miller has been recognized with an array of honors and awards. In 2021, he received a Ph.D. Exceptional Inspiration and Guidance Mentor Award from IU. He received the Walt Blacconiere MBA Teaching Award in 2021, the M.B.A. Teaching Excellence Award in 2021, and several others. Miller is also a member of several academic community service organizations, some of which include the AAA Doctoral Consortium, the Financial Accounting and Reporting Section, and the FARS Doctoral Consortium.
