A Bloomington internal medicine specialist, Dr. Jean A. Creek is a member of the IU School of Medicine class of 1952. Dr. Creek later returned to IU for his residency in internal medicine. Upon completing his training, he co-founded Internal Medical Associates in Bloomington. Dr. Creek taught medical students for 35 years as director of medical education at Bloomington Hospital and as a clinical professor of medicine at the School of Medicine's Bloomington program.
Over 25 years, he dedicated countless hours to the School's admissions committee, all while maintaining a busy clinical practice. He also served as personal physician to beloved IU President Herman B Wells. Jean and his wife, Doris, live in Bloomington. Through a planned gift, they will establish a scholarship to benefit students at the School of Medicine's Bloomington program. Creek was recognized in 2010 with the prestigious J.O. Ritchey Award. Named for IU School of Medicine legend James Oscar Ritchey, M.D., the award celebrates individuals who have shown exemplary commitment to their profession and to the IU School of Medicine.
In 2020, Jean Creek and Doris Shoultz-Creek were presented the Bicentennial Medal for their distinguished service to Indiana University.
