Dr. Peter S. Pang earned his B.A. in biology from Brown University in 1995 and his M.D. from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2000. He completed an emergency medicine residency through Brigham & Woman’s and Massachusetts General Hospital combined Harvard program. In 2014, Pang joined the Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine faculty as an associate professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine. He was promoted to full professor in 2019 and served as the interim chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine from October 2019 to September 2020. He earned the additional, honorary title of Rolly McGrath Professor of Emergency Medicine in October 2020.
Prior to joining the IU faculty, Pang served as the associate chief and the associate director of experimental therapeutics within the Center for Cardiovascular Innovation at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Pang is particularly interested in acute heart failure, and he has published over 160 peer-revied publications.
Throughout his clinical, research, and academic career, Pang has received several awards and honors to recognize his significant contributions to emergency medicine. In 2013, he earned the Best Teaching Module – Cardiology award from the Northwestern Emergency Medicine Residency Program. He has also received a Trustees’ Teaching Award from IU and a #HeforShe award from Women in Medicine. Pang is also a member of numerous prestigious professional organizations, some of which include the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, and the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine.
