This award is named after Z.G. Clevenger, former coach and athletic director from 1923–1946, a period referred to as the “golden era” in Hoosier athletics due to the 32 Big Ten titles and six NCAA titles won in those years.
Clevenger was committed to excellence, high ideals, and principles, and each of these awardees exemplify those qualities through their service to the athletics program. This is the highest honor given by the I-Men’s Association.
The Z.G. Clevenger Award is presented to living I-Men who, as alumni, have made outstanding contributions to IU through service to its athletic program.
